In the 2018 farm bill, industrial hemp is officially classified as cannabis that contains less than 0.3% THC. Specifically, it was defined as “All derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent.” But when we discuss “cannabis” or “marijuana”, we’re commonly referring to cannabis plants with THC content of 0.3% or higher.
